Measure Your AI Visibility
AI visibility is whether — and how — your brand shows up when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude a question your customers would actually ask. Here's what it means, how it differs from traditional search visibility, and how to measure it.
AI visibility, defined.
Traditional search visibility is about ranking: where a link to your site appears in a results page you can inspect. AI visibility is different. When someone asks an AI assistant a question, they usually get one synthesized answer, not a ranked list of links. AI visibility measures whether your brand is part of that answer, how it's described, which competitors appear instead, and which sources the AI referenced to form its response.
A ranked list vs. one synthesized answer.
Traditional search gives you a page of ranked links you can inspect and compare. AI search gives you one answer, written in prose, often with no visible ranking at all. That changes what "visibility" means: instead of asking "where do I rank," the question becomes "am I part of the answer, and if so, how am I described?" AI assistants don't simply read the top search result aloud — they synthesize an answer from multiple sources, their own training, and (for platforms with web search enabled) a live search step, which means a brand that ranks well in Google can still be missing from an AI answer entirely, and vice versa. The only way to know is to check the actual AI answer, not infer it from search rankings.
Customers are asking AI before they ask Google.
If a prospective customer asks an AI assistant to recommend or compare options in your category and your brand isn't part of the answer, you don't rank lower — you're simply not in the conversation. That's a different failure mode than a low search ranking, and it needs its own measurement, not a guess based on your existing SEO metrics.
The same prompts, checked every day, on every platform.
You add the real questions customers ask — comparisons, recommendations, "best of" questions — and AI BrandSight runs each one once a day against every AI platform included in your plan (OpenAI/GPT, Google/Gemini and Anthropic/Claude), then records whether you were mentioned, where you appeared in the answer, which competitors showed up, and which sources were cited. Checking daily matters because AI answers can change from one request to the next — a single check tells you what happened once, not what's typical.

Two brands, two very different answers to the same question.
One brand ranks first for its category on Google, invests heavily in SEO, and shows up in zero of its tracked AI prompts. A smaller competitor ranks nowhere near the top of Google but gets named in most AI answers for the same category, likely because of how it's described across the sources an AI model draws from. Neither outcome is predictable from search rank alone — it only becomes visible by checking the AI answer directly, on a recurring basis. The same logic applies within one brand over time: a prompt where you appear in 2 of the last 30 daily checks while a competitor appears in over 20 isn't a single bad answer, it's a pattern — and a prompt where you consistently appear is worth knowing too, since it shows what's already working.

Common questions
What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is whether, and how, your brand shows up when someone asks an AI assistant like ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude a question your customers would actually ask - including whether you're mentioned, how you're described, and which competitors or sources appear in the same answer.
How is AI visibility different from SEO?
SEO measures where your links rank in a search results page. AI visibility measures whether you're part of a single, synthesized AI answer, which has no visible ranking at all. A strong SEO position doesn't guarantee AI visibility, and vice versa.
Does a high Google ranking guarantee AI visibility?
No. AI assistants synthesize an answer from multiple sources and their own training rather than reading the top search result aloud, so a brand that ranks well in Google can still be missing from an AI answer, and vice versa.
Which AI platforms does AI BrandSight track?
OpenAI (GPT), Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude. It does not currently track Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT.com consumer conversations, or Microsoft Copilot.
How often is AI visibility checked?
Each tracked prompt is checked once per day on every AI platform included in your plan, so results reflect a consistent daily pattern rather than a single snapshot.
Can AI visibility vary between the same prompt on different days, or by platform?
Yes - AI answers can change between requests, and a brand can appear consistently on one platform and rarely on another, since each model is trained and (where enabled) searches the web differently. Daily, multi-platform tracking is what surfaces both.
Is AI visibility the same everywhere in the world?
Not necessarily - answers can vary by the country or region a search is framed around. AI BrandSight lets you set a search location for platforms that support one, so results reflect what someone in that market would actually see.
Do I need technical or SEO experience to use this?
No. Adding a prompt is just typing the question you want tracked - the kind of thing a customer would type into ChatGPT. No markup, code or technical setup is required.
